I wrote this past week's story at a different location. I usually write the stories in my room in my desktop computer. But this week, I decided to write it on my laptop in the living room. It was a different experience as I had the TV on while I was writing the story. I might try it again!
I am glad you tried that strategy, Farhan! There is some writing I do ONLY at my desk, with no music, no distractions, nothing... but then other kinds of writing I do with music... and then other kinds of writing I do while watching (well, half-watching!) something really familiar on TV that I've seen lots of times before. It's funny how that works: the trick I guess is to find the right context for all the different kinds of writing we do. For making cat memes (which, as you can probably guess, is one of my favorite kinds of writing ha ha), doing it with some TV going seems to work great... it's kind of like the TV helps me get out of my own head and think about other things that I need to find the right cat picture for the right phrase. If you can find the right writing contexts for you this semester, that would be such a good take-away from this class!
